D-2 before the first official race of this 1st Virtual Sailplane Grand Prix - World Final 2021 !
Aged 58, Rui started gliding at the age of 16, flying the venerable Ka 4 Rhönlerche II up to solo flight. After training as an Air Traffic Controller and posting to Porto in 1991, he started flying RC gliders, winning several national championships in the FAI classes F3J, F3B and F5J !
The portuguese pilot is now working as an ATC Safety expert, he continues to enjoy RC gliding, flying scale models and virtual soaring, with many hours flying in the beautiful scenery of the Alps.
You can follow and support him everyday with the competition starting on the 5th of September.
