D-1 before the first official race of this 1st Virtual Sailplane Grand Prix - World Final 2021 !!!
Halil is 22 years old and is currently a senior year student at the department of ELT (English Language Teaching) at Hacettepe University, Ankara.
He has always been interested in aviation and has been using various flight simulators since he was 16. His interest towards gliding started a bit more than one year ago, by watching Tim’s (Tim Madsen) live streams, and this interest grew.
He was eager to discover the gliding world and downloaded Condor Simulator to try it out ! As he didn't know how to learn flying, he started to watch a lot of both real gliding and Condor videos, and to read various resources about general gliding and competition gliding. He started reading the book "Glider Pilot’s Manual by Ken Stewart" and joined the online races to improve his skills (CondorCafé, Tchin Tchin daily races). He also translated the website condor.club to Turkish language... the Turkish man is a talented pilot and a hard worker !
Competitive person by nature, he was making progress each day, and then had the chance to join major competitions such as Condor World Cup, Eurobattle, FFVP eSport Series, and lastly FAI Qualifying SGP Varese.
Now that he is selected as one of 20 competitiors around the world that will fly in the first FAI Approved Virtual World SGP Final, he feels very privileged and grateful to compete, and to represent his country.
Halil is now looking to start his real gliding career in Turkey, but the pandemic is making it tough to start the gliding school yet. He will try to join the gliding club of Inonu as soon as he can !
